While I was out roaming around the backyard the other day, I was surprised to see that a couple of my mums were blooming. So of course I had to grab my camera and take a few pics
Such a fun surprise to see in the garden.
Now onto the food part of this. - - - - -
Sometimes we forget that people from different states may not be as familiar with certain dishes as we are. I recently had a luncheon for 9 friends, really informal, so I served Taco Salad. I was a little surprised that 4 of my 9 guests had never heard of it. So, I thought I would share the recipe just in case you hadn't heard of it either.
Start with a large salad of lettuce, onions, tomatoes and cheese.
So tell me, have you had Taco Salad before?

I can't believe they had not heard of a taco salad. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI made a taco salad last night for dinner. I don't usually make this in the winter, but had ½ an avocado and it just sounded good - even though we are expecting snow!
ReplyDeleteFrom now on, it will be hot soup for me!
Oh taco salad is a favorite and regular around here. I love it. All good things in one bowl.
ReplyDeleteTaco salads are great - we also top with sour cream and/or guacamole.
ReplyDeleteI love taco salad! They serve it in most restaurants around here. I like to top mine with sour cream too.

How nice that you have mums blooming, Marty! These are great pictures! And your taco salad looks wonderful. I made it the other night with shredded chicken! Yum!

Now that recipe looks yummy! I love taco salad......
ReplyDeleteWe love taco salad...so much easier to eat! I usually add some guacamole and sour cream to the top of mine. I use tortilla chips not Fritos, but Fritos would certainly be good. I'm surprised so many of your friends hadn't heard of this!
ReplyDeleteyes, I have and make taco salads, similar to yours, I add black olives and avacados. Instead of Fritos I use crushed dorritos. The dressing is always Catelina.
ReplyDeleteMarty, we've been eating taco salad for nearly 30 years. We add drained pinto beans to ours, as well as avocado chunks. Then we mix in Catalina dressing. Mmmmmmm !
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteMy dear friend, Kay, introduced "Mr.Ed" and I to Taco Salad years ago. Her's is a meatless version using garbanzo beans. We love this salad with burgers cooked on the grill in the Summer! I'll keep yours in my file for the cooler weather when grillin's not an option! Thanks for sharing!!!
Fondly,
Pat
