I am always on the lookout for volumns of books and if they are old, the better. I found this wonderful set of 7 Junior's Classics. It was originally a set of 10 books, so I am missing three, but I love them. They were published in 1912 and they have such beautiful parchment paper liners covering all the pictures. They have been well read, so that makes them even more special.
I love the beautiful detail on the books with the gold lettering and the fabulous scrolls.
Of course there had to be a slight change in the bookcases to make room. I removed a stack of decor books and they work perfect.
Now to find a place for all those decorator book, my collection is really growing.

Those are beautiful Marty! I love old books - they had such craftmanship! Our old house came complete with lots of old books and we already owned lots of books, so I really don't have lots of places to display them BUT I can't get rid of them! Yours look great!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Marty! I love to use old books too in decorating. Yours have such great patina and you have displayed them wonderfully. When I go to a thrift store, I always at least glance at the book section to see if any old books catch my eye. The attractiveness of the spine is what I am looking for.
ReplyDeleteNice find, Marty!
ReplyDeleteSuper find, Marty. You know how I love old books.
ReplyDeleteI love old books as well -- and there are many on the shelves at Linderhof -- a lot of favorites and well read books that date from my childhood!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful books, Marty! I think I'd even sit down and read through a few of those!
ReplyDeleteI love books, all of them! But the old ones are the best! These are great!! I have lots of books decorating my home!xx
ReplyDeleteI love old books, too. These are awesome!

Those books are gorgeous, Marty! I love how your books are arranged in pretty vignettes in your bookshelves.
ReplyDeleteI love old books, too. I need to get out and scour the thrift shops soon, to see what treasures I can find.

Beautiful books Marty and such a great find. I love old books. I have a few that I have found here and there.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful evening,
Gail
I can't get enough of em! I have a set of the Jr classics also only mine are not nearly as cool or old as yours. I think a room without books is boring *winks* Vanna
ReplyDeleteI love your old books Marty. I'd far rather own an item with a 'history'.
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteThese Junior Classics are a lovely addition to your collection of Vintage Books! I adore how you've included them in your bookcase!!! I, too, am always on the lookout for vintage series collections...some I have actually read...again!
Fondly,
Pat
I have that same set of books. I'm waiting for you to incorporate them into a table top so I can copy you.
ReplyDeleteI also like sets of old book...I have a Dickens set and an Edgar Allen Poe...they are just so cool and eye catching in a vignette!
