I have collected quite a few Decorating Books and where to keep them is becoming a problem. I notice in all of these wonderful books that they display stacks of designer books on coffee tables along with a random mix of other things.
After studying several different books and table displays, I thought I would try my hand at arranging something on the livingroom coffee table.
A candle snuffer, a pretty plate and some coasters finish off my vignette.
How about you, do you like to try out new ideas and see how it works for your decor. I think this could use some tweaking, but it was fun to do something different.

I think you captured the designer-look just perfectly, Marty. And, yes, I love to try new ideas, especially something I've seen in a magazine or design book.

Your coffee table looks great! I have a few on mine also, so I guess I'm a copycat too.
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteThe table looks wonderful. Things keep looking better and better!
Very lovely, very neat! Saw your round table over by the sofa....did you make the cloth that covers it, or did your purchase it. so pretty1
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely! The floral arrangement looks so airy. I'm a decorator book collector too. I love them!
Blessings,
Kathy
I stacked my decorating books on my square coffee table in stacks of four, Marty! I'd had them packed up two years ago when we thought we were moving and I missed being able to pull one out to look through. So I opened up all the boxes and put them out on my coffee table. I'm sure I have a picture on my blog somewhere showing that. I love them this way!
ReplyDeleteI love this look! Your focal point, candle in hurricane and snuffer with the two stacks of decorator books is perfect, I think it looks great the way you have it.

Pat

I have tried putting books on the coffee table but they always get used as coasters!!
ReplyDeleteYour table looks lovely. I think we are more inclined to pick up a book if it is right in front of us!
XO,
Jane
I did the same thing with a few of my decorator books! I found the same principal worked for me! Yours looks really great!
ReplyDeleteYou have created a beautiful vignette and I also LOVE the pillows on your sofa! They are beautiful! Did you make them?? If so, I am jealous....wish I could sew:):) XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteI think your books look great and very natural on your table. Mine are all over the place, and always laying in piles on tables. I suppose that's why I like seeing them! haha! Honestly, I think they're terrific!
ReplyDeleteYour table looks looks wonderful! Thanks for sharing those tips that you gathered from the pictures, etc. that you got your ideas from.
ReplyDeleteI Like it! I am always stumped when it comes to "coffee table decor".
ReplyDeleteNeed to find me some magazines!
Love books...and like what you've done, I keep stacks here and there. They're also great if you need to elevate something within your vignette. You know for height variation. Hope you're enjoying a nice summer.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and very inviting !!! I'm happy I stopped in for a look... I added you to favs ! Jules
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty and inviting.
ReplyDeleteOh dear Marty, your coffee table is better than the one you COPIED from?!! I love your living room, it's so quietly elegant and inviting and I love your collection of great interior designing books, I don't have any, I only have Architechtural Dygest Magazines...need to get some books! Thank you for coming and yes, I think brass is coming back! Lots of hugs. FABBY
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful as always, love the hurricane. I hate that Borders is closing, always love looking at and buying some beautiful garden or design books. Won't be the same seeing them on line..
ReplyDeleteI love this Marty! I did a magazine copy cat challenge last month, and this is just the sort of thing that was so fun to see what everyone comes up with. I will be doing another one in September, so keep on keeping and hope to see you there.

Hi Marty,
ReplyDeleteYour living room is just lovely and you did a great Kopy Kat job on that coffee table of yours. I just love books and am always trying to find new ways to display them. Thanks so much for sharing this inspiring post!
Marianne :)
Your table looks great, Marty. The way you analyzed the inspiration photos you liked really helps to get the look you want. I really need to analyze some, because I have stacks of books on my coffee table, but it never looks quite right. :)Great post, as always.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Babs
Your vignettes are always beautiful, Marty! I have decorating books stuck everywhere. I need to dig them out and display them like you did. Thank you for linking to the Open House party this week.
