Big Bang for $2 Bucks

If you've been following along for the last few days, then you know that I have been reading all of my decorating books and trying the pay close attention to all the details.

Well, all of a sudden the light bulb went off again, and I saw something else that makes a huge difference.  Seems it's the little details that totally finish a room or a vignette.  When I found my rooster lamp, I also found this shade at Ross.  Works perfect, but it is just a shade.

I see so many wonderfully trimmed shades, or they use tassels on the sides of the lamps or the shades.  Now I always buy tassels at Ross when I see one in a color that might work in my house.  They are usually around $2, and I use them everywhere, except on the lampshades.  Doesn't this make a huge difference on a plain shade.  I love the look.

All I did was loop it around the frame of the lampshade, and it just hangs there perfectly.

I tiny detail, but it does make a difference.

Do you really study the details?  I know most of you do because your rooms always look so beautiful.  Now I am off the look at more details.  I will show you the vignette on this table for TTT.  It is my 3rd in the series of Designer Kopy Kat.

You are right - what a change when you added the tassel. Makes the entire vignette pop.

Wow, that does make a big difference Marty. I'm sitting here looking at a shade that can benefit from this little bling. Thanks for sharing.

Great little addition. I just bought a random tassel, too, thinking the same thing. Mine is still in the bag though. :)

I learned to look at little details by blogging also. On my lamps I hang tassels and keys on ribbons. I've also seen crosses before. They are all pretty and add perfect little touches.

I go a little tassel happy at my house, Marty! I think I have tassels in every room! Some hang off chairs, some off lamps, and some off knobs. I just love 'em!

It is the little things....your lamp looks designer now, with the tassel...

I love tassels too and use them all over. I have wrapped them around the base of a lamp too...so the tassel hangs down the column of the lamp. Yours is wonderful. Happy Sunday.

I love the accent. I have always loved tassels. In my bedroom we have lace curtains with tassels, tassel metal tie backs and of course tassels on my vanity pulls!

It IS the little things, isn't it?? I have been gone and haven't seen your posts lately, but I know what you mean. I buy all these decorating books and there they sit. I'm sure I could pick up quite a few new ideas if I would sit long enough to read them. Thanks for the inspiration!

That's a great tassel and the perfect color and touch for your lamp. Your Ross must be much nicer than the one near here.
I wanted to tell you I tried the stain on my sheep and "she" looks much better with your stain technique than the bright white. I'll do a post with her sometime. Thanks so much for the great tip.

Hi Marty! That is a great look. It softens the whole lamp...once you see the tassel, the lamp almost looks nacked in the picture without it! Linda
