Ok, I know you are probably sick and tired of this room and since I have been sewing like a mad woman, I am really tired of it too, but I am so happy to have the drapes redone from this - - -
This was the breakfast area before. (I know, you've seen it a million times) Just bear with me.

This is the breakfast area now, just across from the kitchen island.
This is the view from the sliding doors.
OK, I am burned out on sewing for a while, but I really do love the change. Thanks for looking at this room for the bazillionith time.

ReplyDeleteHugs,
Nancy
I like them both ways...in fact just love the whole room period...lol.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got your sewing done. I still need to sew a cover for my ottoman!
ReplyDeleteOne teeny thing....if you have any of the plaid fabric left, you might make a sleeve for the light fixture chain. :)
ReplyDeleteBarb
The drapes look wonderful! It really updates the room with that simple alteration. You did good!! ;>)
ReplyDeleteThey look great, Marty! I not only like the valance you added to the drapery panels but the way it opens up your windows.

ReplyDeleteIt looks so modern and crisp...love the difference it made!
ReplyDeleteMarty, YOu may be sick of sewing but I am loving all your handiwork! What an upscale change. And I agree with you plaids make me swoon. Great color and wonderful attention to detail. It really updates your living space!
ReplyDeleteYvonne
Marty, your drapes look gorgeous. I love seeing your beautiful home.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
Gail
The new updated drapes look fabulous Marty. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Marty, that was well worth the time and effort. The drapes are more sleak and updated, and - yes, it opens up the whole area. Well done! Linda
ReplyDeleteYay! I know you must feel releived! I love them. I love the plaid too. I remember you talking about doing this and had been wondering if you were still going to do this. I want to add a decorative piece that hangs over my drapes, maybe in the shape of diamond points, but am not sure of that either. I like the way the straight edge looks on yours so I'm now wondering how a straight edge that hangs over my existing drapes would look? I have the fabric, I just can't get the nerve up to cut the fabric yet. You did such a beautiful job as always and it looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteMarty, trust me, we NEVER tire of seeing your beautiful spaces !! I LOVE the new window treatments ... they give your rooms a great new look. Your fabric choice is fabulous, too !! Always inspiring us.
ReplyDeleteWell done, Marty! Your drapes have transformed your space to make it even more lovely!
ReplyDeleteMarty, I couldn't believe what a difference that made! It changed the way everything looked! So refined now, but the before was lovely too. I am in love with your decorating! HUGS!!!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL! If you are not a decorator, you should be! Love your knack for decorating your walls. The plates and decor in the dining area are so pretty. Lovely curtains. I discovered your blog on another site and will add your blog to my list of "other nests to visit" on mine. Oh, I lived in Houston, Texas, for 16 years...my son lives there now and works for an oil and gas company. You are right, it does stay in your blood. My home now is in the Northwest--a big change for a Southern gal from Florida/Texas---but my husband and I LOVE it here and plan to stay. Still get to sneak to Texas to see my son who is getting married in November--so best of both worlds. Have a happy day today! xoxo Kim

The drapes are awesome. Just to think you found the perfect fabric for the header some years ago. They look so elegant yet simple. Your rooms have always been gorgeous but this simple change stepped it up a notch. You are one talented lady. Kudo's Ginger
ReplyDeleteForgot to tell you that I went through all the drapery posts. This process was so interesting. Thanks for sharing. Ginger :)

ReplyDelete61 comments! Well done! The panels look incredible...did you have to hem them since you added the rings? I have shirred-on panels in my family room and would love an update...but if I add the rings they will be too long. Just wondering...Happy Sunday! Get some rest...~Ann
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I LOVE the fabric you used for the tops of the drapes... they really add that little bit of "extra" to the space!
ReplyDeleteIt does look very nice. You did a lovely job.

ReplyDeleteHave a resful week, now.

FABBY
They look wonderful Marty! Your hard work paid off. It really does "open" on the space. Which is always amazing to me how much something so simple can change the feel of a room. Now that you are all done and probably itching too make more, I'll take 3 sets in the exact same fabric! :)
ReplyDeleteYour new drapes are stunning! It always amazes me how a simple change can make such a big impact.
ReplyDeleteThe drapes look great. All of your had work has certainly paid off!
ReplyDeleteOh, Marty, your new drapes are so lovely and they do make your space look bigger. You're so talented at sewing. Now I think I could be talented if I could find fabric at the price you pay! Amazing! Your home is just stunning.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Marty, Nothing like new window treatments to make us feel so good about a room. You did a fabulous job. You have a gift.......

Those really do make the area look bigger! Great change! I am a new follower from Amaze Me Monday. :) Chris
ReplyDeleteHi Marty, All of that hard work was definitely worth it. They look beautiful. The tailored look of the panels does make the room look larger. I'm wanting to redo my living room panels but it is a huge undertaking also. I would have to sew eight and keep trying to talk myself out of it, ha, ha.
ReplyDeleteMarianne :)
Marty, You did a beautiful job on the drapes. I know that's a lot of work and I admire you for being able to make drapes. I can sew but don't do much other than mending or covering a pillow now. I found I really don't like to sew..lol
ReplyDeleteIt was one of those necessary skills every young lady was taught when I was in high school. It's nice that you sew well and make beautiful draperies and pillows.
Hope you have a good week,
Babs
Marty you are awesome! The drapes look wonderful and make such a difference in the room. The room is so inviting - I would love to share a lemonade whilst we chit-chat at the table. :-) You definitely got a HUGE bank for your buck! You continue to inspire!
ReplyDeleteThose look terrific Marty! I really like how they brighten up the room. Really pretty!
ReplyDeletePerfect! They certainly do make the room look larger!
ReplyDeleteHi Marty...

Very pretty -- and a nice fresh and youthful look! Can you do some for me ?! I need to do something in the master --- it's sooo overdo. Thanks for the inspiration, as always.
ReplyDeleteHi Marty,
ReplyDeleteI just love your new drapes. You are quite the seamstress! Your breakfast area is beautiful and I adore your new chandelier.
I love your new drapes and your breakfast room, actually I love it all! Make me some!! Thanks for stopping by refreshrestyle!
ReplyDeleteXO
Debbie
I LOVE Everything you do Marty, I loved the before AND the after. BUT you are right, the room looks bigger with the new drapes. I think it's the straight lines of the window treatment that don't draw your eye to them. They accent and don't overpower the area...They blend beautifully with the arrangement of your room...PERFECT!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.
Have a wonderful week,
Hugs,
Donna
Hi Marty-
ReplyDeleteYour drapes do make the room look bigger and brighter, too. I had to laugh when I read that you have been sewing like a mad woman. I call times like these my "decorating marathons". Even though it took time, you can now sit back and relax in your room and enjoy your work and all the money you saved by doing it yourself.
My best- Diane
Amazing work Marty! Drapes are beautiful..and your dining area looks awesome. Have been following your blog for a while simply love all of your work. We are going to be moving into our first home soon and I'm already making plans on how to place things. your blog is my big inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI've been studying this post. I'm going to attempt to make panels like yours for my daughter who just bought a house. I bought ready-made panels at IKEA. I'm going to cut the top off and attach the fabric she picked out. She wants it trimmed in ribbon instead of braid or fringe. I'm not nervous about the top part but I'm wondering about the hemming. Sure hope I can get it right!
ReplyDeleteHi, Marty. I'd already found your awesome blog, and now you've commented on my very first post--thank you! The thumbnail of your living room looked so enticing I went in to get a good peek--it's very, very pretty. I'm so impressed that you sew too! Nice to meet you, Marty!
