I thought it would be such fun to join Jennifer Rizzao for her My Style Evolution Party. It's always such fun to see how things change over time.
We retired and downsized to a much smaller home, so changes were a necessity. However I like the more neutral color scheme we currently have. Can't ever tell, that may change again someday.
I loved the familyroom in the previous house, and really like this decor then and I still do now.
In the new smaller house, we again have the same furniture, but again in a much more neutral color scheme. Hummmmm, I like those woven wood blinds so much, maybe I need to get rid of the drapes and blinds and do the woven woods again. Something to think about anyway.
It's always such fun to look back at what was your taste at one time and what it is now. Can't wait to see your changes.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I always appreciate your visits.

PS. I have old photos but so much work to get to them in the garage. I will just enjoy yours.
We recently went to woven blinds and I love them! Overstock was a great resource for them, FYI!!

I love all of your rooms Marty. I really enjoyed seeing this. Very neat. I wish I ahd old pics from about twelve years ago of our first home. I'm sure I would laugh at myself. We had a white leather sofa and chair. Ugh..:)
ReplyDeleteI love your drapes and think they work so well with your classy room.
ReplyDeleteMarty, your style has really evolved! Just lovely :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and lighter changes goes with the warm area you live in or should I say hot. At least soon it will be hot.

Marty it always looed great! No matter where you were. I can certainly see how you've lightened up the look quite a bit. Love that portrait of a girl in your old house. Is it up somewhere in your new? This was really fun seeing your befores and afters. My house would look almnost exactly the same! Geeezzee I need to refresh somethin'! *winks* Vanna
ReplyDeleteUmmm that should read "looked" I'm on a typo extravaganza! V
ReplyDeleteYou know I love your house!
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to find some woven or wood blinds for Bill's office. When we were in the Springs a few months ago we found 1 set of wood blinds at the Habitat store there. It is the perfect size for the window though we still have to get them up. I still need another set for the other window on the opposite side but figure at the price I would get them and then deal with matching later!
It warmed up to 40 today after dumping 4 more inches of snow last night- Yea!!!

Then or now Marty...one thing has not changed - you've always had great decorating taste! :)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
That was fun, Marty. It is hard to choose between those bamboo blinds and draperies, they are both great looking.
ReplyDeleteI like that you showed your style evolving yet using the same furniture. It's a never ending cycle isn't it? Our love of change in decor.
ReplyDeleteThis was so much fun to see Marty...you always had great taste, it just shows up nicer now:) X0

ReplyDeleteThank you so very much for displaying the button for the bloggers tea.
Morning Marty.
ReplyDeleteI liked the look of every room, and that is because you are such a good decorator. Every style looked great.
It is fun to look back and see how it was before. We were just recently looking at pics and came across some of how our house used to be, it sort of transports you back in time to great memories actually.
Thanks for sharing your pics with us, it was fun for us too!!
Blessings, Nellie
I enjoyed the B&A views. I like the "new" lighter palette and overall touches. While I like bamboo blinds, I like your drapes, too. Soft, pretty and light. Thanks, -s
ReplyDeleteHi Marty, Thanks for the suggestion on my buffet you posted on my blog. I really value your opinion. Your decorating tastes are beautiful. I think you are right it needs some glaze and a little "shabbying", like Kim does. Thanks so much for taking the time to give me your opinion. It is always good to get others ideas. . Hugs, Karie
ReplyDeleteNow I know why I relate to your blog so well, I went through the exact two stages. My last look, when we built our current home was a heavier, old world look. I've been, in the past year or two, working towards a more neutral look with small pops of color.
ReplyDeleteI actually like both your looks, but your current look is nice and airy.
awesome transformation here. love all the designs.
ReplyDeletei am your new follower via gfc.
added you up in my blogroll:)
Do you ever look back and go... "I went to far?' I suppose not since all the variations are gorgeous! :)
ReplyDelete~Liz
Both rooms are just lovely! And for some reason I am in love with your fringe pillow. May I borrow the idea? I am thinking I need a fringe pillow of my own. :) Kit
ReplyDeleteI like all the looks, Marty. You transitioned so nicely to your newer nest. Re the woven woods: removing the blinds and replacing with woven woods layered under your your drapes would also look nice.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you decorate then and now! You have such great style and purchase timeless pieces for your home, that you can make a change by using the same furniture. I love that!
ReplyDeleteI cringe when I think of my "Country Period"! Oh my, how tacky! Hubby and I both thought if it was old we should have it. We still have some antique pieces (which he likes more than me), but I will definitely not ever go back to that style in this lifetime! Your style, however, was great then as it is now! My sense of style is yet to be developed actually!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun post. I am always making changes to my home. I can't imagine ever considering it, "Done". This confuses my honey, it was done the day we moved in for him... Love your rooms both ways, my favorite change was the raising of your curtains.
ReplyDeleteIt's all beautiful I enjoy looking at all the things you do.
ReplyDeletePattie
It's all BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteHey girl I had some glitches in my other blog and had to recreate a new one could you come follow me at that one please new address is noplacelikehomeally.blogspot.com
ReplyDelete~Allyson~
You do every thing in such good taste, but I really like the newer lighter brighter version of both rooms. It's amazing that your accessories and drapes make the same furniture look so different.
ReplyDeleteYour changes look very nice Marty. Very fresh and timeless.

Hi Marty!
ReplyDeleteWell, I really loved both houses and both syyles. you have such a lovely classic style.
I love your before and after pics! We have a similar style. I like dark, rich woods and colors. I'm not a white girl, although I do swoon over cottage and barn style photos. Have a blessed Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteVisions of beautiful home decor. . .but so much more! I feel the warmth and love in both the then and now!Thank you for sharing this all inspiring post!
