I am joining Kim @ Savvy Southern Style for her new Wow Us Wednesday party. If you don't know Kim, you definitely need to visit. She will amaze you with all of her creativity and talent. Just wait until you see her home and the furniture she paints. Simply stunning!!!
I am also joining Judy @ DIY by Design for her new Winter Blues Party. You really do need to visit her also, her home is stunning and she is so sweet and talented. You will love her party. Tons of inspiration.
I showed you this tacky frame I found at a garage sale for 25c. It needed some help.
First I gave it a good coat of Minwax Walnut stain.
After the stain dried, I sprayed a little black paint on a paper towel and lightly rubbed the raised surfaces.
After that dried, I did the same thing with gold spray paint, just barely touching on all the raised areas of the frame.
When you find those really tacky frames at the GW, garage sales or thrift stores, give them a little makeover and they'll look fabulous.
Thanks so much for stopping by, I always look forward to your visits.

Hi Marty, that's a definite improvement. You really got a great deal - 25 cents?! Thanks for the "how to". Linda
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteA bargain and a beautiful work of art to boot! You did amazing things for your quarters worth! I took your suggestion and bought some frames at our GW store. Mine were a bit more than a quarter. . .but didn't need any paint. Thanks for all your inspiring ideas.
Fondly,
Pat
Very Nice! It's looks so much better =D
ReplyDeleteDoesn't even look like the same frame, Marty! I've got to learn how to do this stuff.

Marty, Im so glad I saw this makeover!! I have two really large mirrors with the gold look that I've been wanting to age. Actually they are antiques. Husband refuses to let me spray paint them because they were his mothers. I wonder if I'll hurt their value if I do this. This is exactly the look Ive been wanting on the one hanging in my dining room.
ReplyDeleteMarty, thanks for showing us how to makeover a frame. It looks beautiful. I have found a couple of frames that need to be madeover. I love the way you have done your, and I am going to copy. Actually, I copy alot of things you do! Thanks for your inspiration. Hugs, Karie

I love the frame. I need to touch up some old frames, and I actually thing this is the fastest and most elegant way to give them a uniform look. Also, I have recently discovered a Goodwill Branch in our town they opened. I bought a 73 piece set of NICE antique Noritake china there 3 days ago. What fun! Thanks for sharing! I am jealous of your senior citizens discount, but my mother always says age is a high price to pay for such things! :) Still, I am not sure she knows there is a discount, so I intend to pass it on!
