Since my island is not all that big, I really didn't think anything with a back is what I wanted. Here are a few that I liked. This is very simple, but very stylish. It is called Shenandoah Valley by Southern Living. Great Cherry finish that would coordinate with the rest of my furniture.

Since my breakfast room chairs have a rush seat, I thought this was a fabulous choice too. It's called Carolina Cottage by Hawthorne.

This one is called Coastal Living by Stanley. It comes in colors and black. Love the saddle seat and the great turned legs. Black could be a great accent with my furniture.

Absolutely love the frenchy style of this one. It is Hillsdale Fleur De Lis. Might be a bit formal for my kitchen, however since you can see the bar stools from the living room, it might be fabulous.

Ok, what do you think? It's really hard to narrow my choice down. They also had quite a few with upholstered seats. That could be a great choice too. Hummmmmm!!!!

I have the one in the first picture, but it isn't a bar stool, it's an occasional table for putting your coffee cup on at the side of the sofa. Maybe it's different over there?

I love the ones that come in black or colours!
ReplyDeleteAll great choices though

I kinda like the Coastal Living one because of the wide saddle seat. I think it would fit my big blogger butt. ;o}
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteI took a look at your kitchen from your sidebar photo. Your kitchen island is off~white with that beautiful varigated marble countertop. I like the Costal Living. .. the seat minics the shape of the island. Black...what other colors does it come in? I see oranges, yellow and lots of red in your roosters! I'd go with RED! I'm sure what ever you choose will be lovely! Thanks for asking for help, but you, dear one, have often helped me with my decorating delimas!
Fondly,
Pat
I love the French style. I need counter stools myself. I bought the ones for the lakehouse on Overstock.com. Back then I had never heard of CSN. I will have to have a look!

I like the last one. I could never sit long on a bar stool without a back, due to long term back problems. But in terms of looks, since you can see it from the living room, I would say those.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
we've been looking for bar stools ever since we got our island....5 months ago :)
ReplyDeleteIt would be hard to choose, but I would say comfort would be a real factor with me---but how do you try them out if you order them online?
ReplyDeleteI vote for the Hilldale with the Fleur De Lis. I noticed your drapes in the formal living room has a fleur de lis design as does your runner. Also, this one matches your cabinets so well, plus you get the softer seat. That's my choice!
ReplyDeleteYou'll make any of them look perfect as always!!!
I like the Carolina Cottage by Hawthorne for a traditional classic stool. However, the Stanley one painted black is really unique and wonderful. Love the turned legs too and the saddle seat. Yep, I would go with that one....! xo Delores
ReplyDeleteThe black is very "now" but I love the French!
ReplyDeleteLiz
They are all pretty, but I love the one with the rush seat and the Coastal Living ones too!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Well now of course I love the Carolina cottage ones. I would love some with brush seats but I also love the look of those coastal living ones, very cute. My blog friend over at Shellbelle's Tiki Hut is hosting a giveway from CSN about barstools. I was just on her blog today looking at them. You should go over there and check it out too. I really appreciate your comments on my post. I cannot imagine you ever feeling bitter though, you are always such a joyful blogger! Have a great weekend! :)))
ReplyDeleteI'd vote for an upholstered seat. The bare wood seats are mighty hard on the bum even after just a short period of time. Speaking from experience.
ReplyDeleteCarol
Hard choice but I think I like the second and third one the best...Christine
ReplyDeleteI love the Coastal Living Marty. The last one would work well too, as you can see them from the living room, but I keep returning to the coastal living - love those turned legs! Hugs, Kat
ReplyDeleteEveryone loves my bar stools except me..
ReplyDeleteI love the ones from Carolina cottage and think they would look great at your bar area..
Definitely the rush seats! They look just like something from the Pierre Deux catalog. :)

Hi Marty, the Carolina Cottage stoll is cute but you know the way the legs poke up with the upholstery that might hurt the bum if your not centered directly one it. From the pictures I have seen of your home I think the last french style stoll would be lovely in your kitchen. I'm sure whichever you choose it will be the right one...you have wonderful taste. Have a good weekend...Sue
ReplyDeleteHi, Marty,
ReplyDeleteI think the saddle seat gets my vote. Very unique.
Oh my I love the Coastal Living by Stanley. I wasn't look for bar stools..... Till I saw these!!! Gotta go check them out!!
ReplyDeleteMarty the Stanley in black would be my choice!! It would look stunning with your decor.

Well, I love all of them but my question to you - did any one of them speak to you or take your breath away? If so, then that's your One. If I had to pick one, I love the rush seat but it wouldn't be practical in my messy world.
ReplyDeleteI just love the frenchy ones and think they would look fab in your gorgeous home!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Marty and I will be curious to see what you pick!
Hugs,
Cindy
I love the Coastal Living one's in black...but they are all fabulous!

Marty -- I'm sorry I got a tad delayed, but your teaspoons that you won in my giveaway are making their way from Canada to you!
ReplyDeleteJenny
Hmmm...decisions, decisions, decisions. You have a lot of great choices there. I was just looking back over your photos to get a better flavor of your beautiful home. I really think the last ones, the ones with a bit of a French flair would add a bit of punch. And, as you mentioned, you'll see them from the living room, I think it would be a great touch.

It's hard to buy them without sitting on them! If you use them often, they have to be very comfortable. We don't use ours.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Overstock.com? They have some and the shipping is a dollar! Also if you link through mrrebates.com you get a percentage back.
Still, I think I would have to sit on them and have the option of taking them back if they just don't look right!
They are all beautiful Marty. We have the rush seats and really like them. Our stool legs aren't turned though.
ReplyDeleteMarty, All your choices are beautiful but after looking at some of your photos on your sidebar it looks like you have a lot of stained furniture. Your cabinets are as well and I would be inclined to break that up with the black Coastal Living by Stanley. You could always add a cushion to the seat in a fun print. That seat looks like it would be comfortable too.

I like the Coastal Living by Stanley. If you want a simple yet stylish design, you might want to try hand forged iron bar stools. I have a few of them on my kitchen and they are the perfect combination for our hand forged iron chandeliers. Anyway, hope you find the perfect one or more for your kitchen!
