Junkin Finds - I Did Good

While running errands yesterday, I had to stop by Goodwill.  Thursdays are $1 days.  Certain colored tags are only $1.  I think I made out like a bandit.

I am always hunting for more books, and all of these were only $1 each.

I love pretty and unusual baskets, and the color and size of this one was super.  It was also $1.

Nice size and deep too.  Love it.

I love old wicker suitcases, and this was such a different piece, that I had to have it.  For $2.99 it came home with me.

Isn't it a pretty shape.  Love the wood trim and the black and natural finish together. This will be perfect to sit by my chair and hold some of my favorite design books and magazines.

I always love bags of faux fruit.  This bag has a tone of stuff.  A real bargain at $1.

I loved the miniatures that were inside.

More miniatures and even some walnuts.

I havn't had any berries before, so these will be fabulous to use.

These strawberries almost look real.

Full size oranges, figs and even a tomato.

Lemons and plums.

And bananas too.

Everything got a good bath in warm soapy water and now I am ready to play.

Fun day and I think I found some great treats.

I am linking with Linda @ A La Carte for Junkin Finds.  Be sure to visit and see all the wonderful treasures everyone has discovered.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I always appreciate your visits.

WOw! You did do good Marty! And might I say you take excellent pictures. What type of camera do you have?? I got a new one for Christmas last year and it's a good one, but I can't seem to take a good picture. I guess it depends who's standing behind the camera!

Good Morning Marty Sweetie...
What a beautiful share this morning. I love your goodies that you found at the GoodWill store.

Now that basket is quite the score, and I can't wait to see what you do with it. I also adore the little case. It will be beautiful with magazines tucked inside by your chair. What a score there.

Yes, I love a bag of fruit and you found an awesome deal here. My gosh, you sure got a lot of variety. Usually they don't pack them as tight with goodies. You have an eye for the thrift store shopping. I need to start following you around a little.

Hope you are well sweetie. I think of you so often and would love to get together again soon. Still not much voice, and a diagnosis of Spasmodic Dysphonia. It is permanent, caused by my serious pneumonia and the constant coughing for so many months. No pill to make it better. Dr.s are experimenting with botox injections into the vocal cords, but I am not game for that one, and am so through with dr.s I don't want to see another one or have any more tests. It is time to quit and leave well enough alone.

Take care sweetie. Have a wonderful blessed weekend. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Marty,
Woo Hoo! You hit the jackpot on that suitcase. .. it should retail for about $15.00 ~ $20.oo when new.
I am always looking for books, not to read, to decorate with. My favorites are the ones in a numbered collection, same author, same color. . .or should I say I just like books! They make wonderful risers when elevating objects! Now I'm ready to go find some buys at the Thrift Shop, Goodwill, garage sales. ..see how you've inspired me! Thank you, again Marty!
Fondly,
Pat

You DID make out like a bandit! That basket is gorgeous. And the fruit reminds me of some I have tucked away downstairs. It belonged to my grandmother and was always out in a dish on her table. :)

You found some great stuff, Marty...especially the baskets! I love the new look you are working on in your living room! Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie

Kudos on the finds!

The fruit reminds me of a craft project from the late '60s, early '70s where we painted plastic fruit with furniture stain. My mother kept the stained fruit, stained cornucopia concoction I made for her until she moved into a smaller home in the early '90s. :P

Some craft projects deserve a decent burial; some warrant cremation!

Fantastic finds!! I love that basket, but I think my favorite things are the black bound books. When I saw the subject matter, the history lover in me got very jazzed. I would LOVE the Plutarch and the Franklin and Penn ones the best. Awesome!
