Thanks so much for joining the 22nd Table Top Tuesday. I am having so much fun. You guys are the most creative people in the whole world, and I always get such wonderful inspiration from all of your vignettes.
I am still trying to simplify and not crowd every single surface with a ton of things. The china cabinet top needed some work.

This is so much better. Less is more right?

A collection of finials and a clock is more than enough, especially since I have so much in the china cabinet.

I've had all of these finials for years. All of them came from thrift stores at different times. I like all the different shapes and finishes.

Love my gorgeous mantel clock that I inherited from my mother's collection.

Much cleaner looking. I am trying so hard to pare down. lol (Sure couldn't tell from the look of what all's inside the china cabinet.) lol

Thanks so much for stopping by, I can't wait to see all of your wonderful vignettes and be inspired.

Hi Marty, Although I am in the middle of packing up my house for a move I had to join in for TT. I miss being part of the fun each week and can't wait until I am moved and settled in the new house. Your vignette on the cabinet looks perfect, you always know just when enough is enough.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful week and thank you for being such a great host!
Hugz,
Kim
Yes, I agree that, sometimes, less is best. I am doing the same thing as you....trying to clear out and pare down. I tend to get too much STUFF out and then, all at once, I walk thru a room and it seems so cluttered to me. I stip things down and, before I know it, I add THIS or THAT and first thing I know, it's too dang much again! *sigh.....
ReplyDeleteI agree that less is more -- but more is more, too (sometimes)! That's where your decorating skills shows up and why I love to look at your vignettes -- you know just when to add or take away. And more examples (more, more, more) are always welcome! Annie
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower and a new member of the Bloggerette Society. I am making my rounds to "meet" all of the lovely ladies in the society. I would love for you to visit me @ www.mommiesandbeyond.com
ReplyDeleteYour china cabinet is gorgeous, Marty! Everything inside just sparkles. The top looks more interesting now without the plant. The finials are interesting and I love the clock. Simple and beautiful!

Marty, I love your old family clock. It is just beautiful, and the simplified top is great. My daughter came over yesterday and simplified my decor. It feels good! The finials are really nice, too. Linda
ReplyDeleteMarty, the old clock is fabulous. Love the face on this piece. It looks nice with the interesting group of finials. I need to do some editing around our home. I agree that it's best to simplify. ~ sarah
ReplyDeleteHi Marty! I love the new cleaner look! Your mom's clock is fabulous...so pretty! What a treasure! Happy week!...hugs..Debbie
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny....yep, I definately see the paring down!! just like me!!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks really good. I'm doing the same thing -- paring down a bit -- too many bits and bobs (but if they are beloved . . .)
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the top of the china cabinet (and inside -- that deserves to be full -- isn't that what china cabinets are for?)
I love that clock so much, Marty, and I think I already told you that before. The top of your cabinet is looking better and better. Whatever happened to your Faberge egg collection? I miss seeing them in there...Christine

ReplyDeleteHi Marty!
ReplyDeleteOh, I do think I like it better now, not that I didn't like it before. LOL But, now with a finial collection together, you notice them more and the clock stands on it's own. Everytime I see this cabinet, I just drool! LOL
