Today I am joining Gypsy Fish for another fabulous Silver Sunday. Be sure to go by and see all the wonderful silver everyone is showing.
It was definitely time to clean the silver. I am not a big fan of the tarnished look for me, and mine was looking pretty bad, so I thought this was the best time to show the pieces that I have. Some are mine, my mom's and my mother-in-laws.
It seems that trays are one of the most popular gifts to give, and I have quite an assortment.

This wonderful cream and sugar on it's own tray belonged to my mom.

I love the border decoration on this tray and it is actually deep enough to be used as a bowl too.

I have two pieces in this pattern that belonged to my MIL. They are footed and just lovely.

This is the square one. Unfortunately both have spots that won't polish out.

See the pretty feet.

This piece belonged to my mom and again can be used as a bowl.

This is the piece that I use the most. I broke the original glass pie plate, but it works well with this one. I love the elegance it gives to any pie.

This pretty tray belonged to my MIL. I love the detail on it.

This tray is mine and the pattern matches my cakestand. It's a really nice size for almost anything.

Tiny tray of mine just perfect for mints.

My cakestand that matches the tray. I use this a lot.

The same design as the tray.

A few more pieces. ( I cleaned a lot of silver )

You've seen me use this coffee service in several of my tablescapes. Love this piece.

I use this water pitcher all the time too. Great for lemonade or a bouquet of flowers.

A Paul Revere bowl.

I saw that Ceekay had one of these wonderful dishes too. I love that it folds up for storage and display.

When you open it, you have 3 lovely trays to serve on. I use this a lot.

This butter butler was my mom's and I just love it.

Isn't the inside pretty too. It does have a glass dish that fits inside to hold the butter, but I wanted to show the pretty design.

Well, that's it except for a couple of silver accessories. I really do enjoy all of my silver. I am going to try and use it more often. Thanks for stopping by, I always look forward to your visits.

You certainly did clean a lot of silver! Somehow I've managed to get to this point in my life and not have any silver. I didn't inherit any and haven't purchased any. But now I'm rethinking that, as these pieces are simply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Hi Marty! Your silver looks great all cleaned and polished! I love the pitcher, the handle is so beautiful and I can just imagine it with some pretty flowers inside.
ReplyDeleteHi Marty! Shiny silver! I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful collection.
I polish mine too and have a hard time getting used to seeing it all tarnished. Lovely!
Hugs,

ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely collection.
I didn't do my post yet..I think I will wait for the light..
I see you in your silver...:)
You have some beautiful pieces. I never liked silver, until blogging. I actually gave all of mine to my mom after my wedding...I really must get some of that back now that I tablescape. You reminded me that I had a water pitcher...I'd forgotten all about it. I really love your tray and cakestand. The pattern is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSue
Please send the butter butler directly on to me....:) Loved all your pieces Marty. Your trays are fabulous. Happy Silver Sunday

Just beautiful Marty! I kept thinking "oh I love that one the best," and then I would scroll down and see another piece I loved even more! I really love the detail on the one piece from your mother in law and your mint dish caught my eye as well! I would love to have a silver tea or coffee service...maybe one day! How wonderful to have so much lovely silver and if you ever want to send me a nice little gift you can wrap up your gorgeous pitcher and mail it right off to me! ;)
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Oh Marty! All your silver is so stunning! I couldn't even pick out a favorite. Love them all!
ReplyDeleteOhhh so pretty Marty....you have some fantastic treasures and each piece is a show stopper on it's own...Hope all is well with you and yours and that you are having a great weekend..~Picket~
ReplyDeleteMarty, you have some very nice silver pieces. That coffee service is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteI started out thinking the cream & sugar set was my favorite...and ended thinking the whole coffee service was. It's all just perfect and beautiful! Each piece has its own personality ~ I can only imagine how much you treasure each one. Thanks so much for sharing such elegance!
xoxo
Marty, I am not an expert but I would not worry about the pieces of what looks like stains. All silver is overplated over copper. And, over time the most wear show through the copper base. I have a few pieces like that and it just shows me that got a lot of loving use. I have an Art Deco Coffee Service set made in Canada with some of these wear spots and it is my favorite of all time. Enjoy them. They are all beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour silver is just stunning! I love silver. I am happy to let some of it tarnish - if I am using it for decorative purposes. But any silver I use in serving or eating I polish.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
No wonder you were the first to post. I would have been eager to be first if I had such gorgeous, fabulous, absolutely beautiful(and your arms must be exhausted from polishing) silver. I am so jealous. Thanks for showing.
ReplyDeleteMarty, I just love everything you'v pictured! You and I actually have a lot of the same pieces of silver and like you, I don't like tarnished silver either. In fact I LOVE to polish silver. Hubby just bought me another tray, so I had to hurry and polish it and share!

Hey Marty, I'm doing a middle of the night spin here on the East Coast to get in some overdue visiting to my blogging buds. My work has been crazy this past month and I nearly have time to sneeze., so as I lay in bed worrying about work, I thought I'd come upstairs to work. When I got up here, I instead migrated to my "personal" pc and decided to make it ALL ABOUT YOU instead! :) Seriously though...it's been so wonderful to visit so many tonight. This silver post is so lovely. Filled with nostalgia and memories, I can tell. Now that it's all polished and looking totally fabulous, you have to have a big party! :) Even if it's four of you! The three tiered piece you have that folds up is similar to one that I have that is painted a distressed ivory. I love it, one of my favorite to use when I have tea parties or just tea time in the afternoon with a friend. MISS YOU! ~CC Catherine
ReplyDeleteTalk about a pirates bounty of silver...you've got it! Thanks for playing along...tune in next week for the first Second Silver Sunday and the announcement of the SS giveaway....see you next week!

G'morn, Marty ~ I love BEST your MIL ornate piece but you have a fantastic collection of silver pieces.
ReplyDeleteI do not have silver, I gave it all away as I don't like to polish ...
Happy Valentine's ~
Have a beautiful week.

ReplyDeleteHi Marty, your silver is beautiful and looks extra lovely on your table. Happy Silver Sunday..
ReplyDeleteSylvia
What a beautiful treasured collection of silver you have. I adore the pie plate carrier and the piece with the sweet feet! Sigh....
ReplyDeleteYour silver collection is beautiful, and I love that so many pieces came from your momma and MIL! My favorite piece is the water pitcher--gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHappy SS!
xo-kate
What a lovely collection of silver! And what a job to polish it all - good for you! I only have one silver piece and can't even do that! My favourite piece of yours is the one with the claw-foot, very unique! My mom has the same serving piece with the glass plate that you broke - I gave it to her!
ReplyDeleteDD
You did polish a lot of silver! What lovely pieces you have! Two of my favorites are the tray that belonged to your MIL with all the pretty details and the lovely sugar and creamer with tray that belonged to your mother.
ReplyDeleteyou have a gorgeous collection. that must have taken quite a long time to polish everything! i just love the cakestand.
ReplyDeleteWow! These are beautiful. I can tell you cleaned a lot! :)
ReplyDeleteMarty, you have some wonderful pieces. It's nice to have an assortment of trays. I like to mix sizes and shapes on a table. The butter dish that swivels open is fabulous. How nice that you have pieces from both your mother and your mother-in-law. Happy Silver Sunday!
ReplyDeleteLovely pieces! The one you called a tiny tray that holds mints I was told was a bottle holder. I use mine to hold a crystal bedside bottle.
ReplyDeleteOh Marty, you're making me want to get out all of my silver and at least look at it, but then I know I'd end up having to polish it. We have some of the same pieces. I have that first oblong "almost a bowl" piece. It was a wedding gift, and the card said it was a "roll server". I only remember that, because I had to write that on the thank you note. I'm not sure if my butter butler is identical to yours or not, but my cake stand is (wish I had that big matching tray). Oh, and that square piece with the swirls is so unique. I have a tired server in that pattern. But I really feel in love with that tray that was your m-i-l's with that beautiful design on it. You have so many beautiful pieces. (You want to come polish mine?) laurie
ReplyDeleteHi Marty,
ReplyDeleteI love all your pieces...they are so beautiful! I know you enjoy using them and I too like my polished. Thanks so much for sharing!
Sharlotte
My Word!!!! Absolutely gorgeous pieces. I too love the folding display triple tray ~ I have one in chippy white that I adore. And how long did all this polishing take you? Your photos are so pretty - how do you ever get them so big and clear? Very Nice ~ Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLovely silver!! I wish you would come and polish mine...it wouldn't be as many pieces...I'm in the state next to yours. To the east...so it wouldn't be too far for you would it?
ReplyDeleteHa!
Thanks for the visit...
Be blessed!
Such beautiful sentimental silver! ~ Angela
