Met. & Thrifty Monday - Fall Is Coming

Yea!!! It's time for another Metamorphosis and Thrifty Monday hosted by the gracious Susan @ Between Naps On The Porch and Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality. They both always have so many wonderful and creative things to show us and a whole list of everyone that is sharing in this fun event, so be sure to check them out.

I am shamelessly promoting the coming "Fall Cloche Party" today. It is coming up real soon on the 11th of Sept. Be sure to get out all your cloches and apothecary jars and show us your fall decorations and your creativity.

I always want to be part of the action and in the middle of everything. You know how some people are. lol Anyway, I moved my computer to the breakfast room. There is a buffet under the window and it has drop down leaves on the ends which makes it really big when I raise them up and just perfect for me to put the computer there so I can be part of the familyroom/breakfastroom/kitchen combination. I love it. I can watch TV, cook and still blog all at the same time.

For a while I've had an old ironstone pitcher that belonged to my grandmother filled with flowers, an antique ringer phone (can you see the ringer on the side), antique shoe lasts, an ink well and a brass apple as the decorations.

I thought this would be a great spot to bring in a little fall decorating. I am really thinking cool. It is still in the triple digits here. 113 degrees today. I really am ready for fall and some cool weather, and some rain.

I found all of these items at the Dollar Tree. Just some fun pumpkins, gourds, corn, feathers and fall leaves. It makes me think cool anyway even if it isn't. lol

Please be sure to grab the button pictured her and post it on your blog to spread the word and get out your cloches and fill them up with all kinds of wonderful fall things. I can't wait to see them all. Don't forget Sept 11th. That's really soon. Also, several people have asked, and you don't have to sign up, just do your post and then I will have Mr. Linky up on the evening of the 10th and you can all log into Mr. Linky so everyone can find you. Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate it.

Show us Your Roosters

Yeah, what a fun party. Thanks to Barb @ Bella Vista for hosting this fun party. I know we all love our roosters and I can't wait to see all of yours on display. Be sure to check out her blog for a list of all the participants.

I guess I really had a few more roosters than I thought. Just taking a look at my kitchen you see quite a few on display.

Starting with the top of the cabinets, I have a really whimsical little planter. I love the fun and cheery colors and the check border.

Then I have two wood roosters. I found these guys quite a few years ago in a thrift store. They weren't old, but I thought they were cute.

This one is my all time favorite. It is very old. I found it in an antique shop in Fredricksburg, Texas. It is a primitive piece from Pennsylvania. I love the warm patina the wood has.

I've had these two rooster prints for many, many years and still love them.

These are my newest rooster friends. I love the big fat one, he always makes me think he's laughing, and the little one has such a regal pose you can tell he thinks he's special.

This of course is not a rooster, but this little wire chicken was a gift from one of my children many, many years ago and is so special to me.

This of course is the wonderful rooster cloche that my son recently gave to me when we were having our first "Cloche Party". I just love it, such a precious gift.

My speckled rooster with the baby chick at his feet commands center stage just about anywhere I put him. I found him at Ross a few years back.

This cute little white rooster perched on top of the sphere is a recent find at Ross. I also found the cute little bird that sits next to him at the same time. I think they're really good friends.

My cute little blue and white rooster pitcher is such a sweet addition to my blue and white collection. This little guy came from Marshalls.

I use the shelves on the sides of the entertainment center to display a lot of my dishes since it's part of the kitchen/familyroom combination. This picture shows my wonderful rooster and chicken plates that my daughter gave me 25 yrs. ago. They are very special treasures.

So, in case it didn't already show, I guess I am a professed rooster collector. lol They are all so fun and each one has their own personality and character. Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget the "Fall Cloche Party" on Sept. 11th.

I Know I Am The Luckiest Person On Earth

I have been the lucky winner of some of the neatest giveaways in blogland recently. I feel like it's Christmas and I am so thrilled with all of them.

Florida Sue @ Luxe Lanai recently had a wonderful giveaway of a gorgeous bracelet that she has always loved. To my surprise, I won this fabulous piece. Just look at the pretty way she has it wrapped. She even went to all the trouble to put glitter initials on the package spelling my name. I thought this made the wrapping so special and personal and I was thrilled to see it.

This is the beautiful bracelet. I took several pictures trying to capture the true beauty of it, but none of the pictures really do it justice. It truly is exquisite. I will so enjoy wearing this piece often. Thanks again Sue, I really do love it.

Then this wonderful package came in the mail all the way from England. It is from Lorraine@ The BAlancing Kiwi. She was participating in a "Pay It Forward" meme and the first three people to comment on her post won. You send something to the three people and they in turn send something to three people and so on.

Well, she really did her homework on me. She knows that I love tea and she knows that I love roosters, so she sent me this wonderful Rooster Tea Cozy. Isn't it just the neatest thing you have ever seen. I am loving it. The fabric pattern just so is me. Thanks again Lorraine, I really love it and will think of you each time I use it.

Also as most of you know Susan @ Between Naps On The Porchhad her anniversay giveaway. She had several wonderful gifts for several days of celebrations. Well, can you believe I won the knives. I am so excited, and they are such wonderful knives. Do you see the little bees on the landles. Thank you too Susan, this is such a treat. I really am thrilled.

At this point I am feeling very spoiled. lol However, I love all these wonderful presents and I will so enjoy them all. Thanks again to everyone.

Let There Be White - Southern Belle in the Garden

Today we are celebrating a wonderful meme "Let There Be White 11". This fun event is hosted by the gracious Kathleen @ Cuisine Kathleen. Be sure to visit her to see her gorgeous tablescape and all the others that are playing with their dishes too.

My tablescape is done all in creams and whites. It is to reflect a Southern Lady in the Garden. I have used two lanterns to surround her. She's also surrounded by lacy birds, and rose covered bells at each place setting. The lanterns remind me of the old street lights or the wonderful tops of gazebos found in the grand old gardens.

It was hard to get a picture of all the wonderful detail to her face and in her beautiful dress. She is just gorgeous I think.

The lanterns are so pretty with the candles glowing. I love all the detail to them. I found them at Home Goods.

I am using a vintage lace tablecloth and damask napkin in cream. There are two different tealight holders. I found them at the Dollar Tree.

A view of each placesetting.

I am using two different glassware stems. I don't know the pattern of either one, but both are very old. They were my mothers. I only have a few of each, but I treasure them.

The flower bowls are ones I found at Pier 1.

I am using my cabbage salad plates. They are Mikasa Spring Countryside.

The dinner plate is the Claremont from Big Lots.

The charger is from JC Penney and is Lace by Kennex.

Love the glow of candlelight and it makes her dress glisten.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I really do enjoy your visits. I hope you will visit again soon. Don't forget the "Fall Cloche Party" is just around the corner on the 11th of Sept. I can hardly wait. Also, this friday is Show Us Your Roosters. You can click on the buttons on my sidebar to find out about both. Hope to see you there.

Met & Thrifty Monday - Pillows are Done

Thanks so much to Susan @ Between Naps On The Porch and Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality for hosting these two really fun meme's every week. Please be sure to visit them to see what everyone has been up to.

Now I know you are all sick and tired of my living room. Well, since I really can't get hardwood floors or crown molding right now, about all I can do is redo pillows and accessories. I promise I won't show this room again for a long time.

I showed you the pictures of the fabric store that I love to go to. Well, I bought some navy and cream toile. I'm still on a quest to put a little country french into the room.

A view to the dining room side of the room.

I already had this tableskirt and it goes so well with my drapery fabric, plus it matches an ottoman that I made, so I tried to select fabrics that would go with it. In researching country french style, I noticed that they used a lot of different fabrics, so I have really done that. Just some spheres and a dish for the decor.

The end table in the front window got a few flowers and a blue and white vase that I had, along with a blue and white orb that I put on an egg stand.

A closeup of one of the pillows. The fringe was $1 yd. and the toile was $6.95 yd.

This shows the whole setting with the chair and the end table.

I placed the tapestry pillow of the hunt scene in the other leather chair along with a throw that I've had for a while.

I redid the floral arrangement to better coordinate with the one on the dining table and found a pretty blue and yellow transfereware plate at Marshalls on clearance for $5.

A detail look at the pillows. The buffalo check is fabric I already had. The toile pillow has navy and white check as well as a windowpane silk remant that I had.

A detailed look at the other pillows.

A look at all of them on the sofa.

Well if country french is suppossed to be a mix of patterns, then I certainly have done that. There are 8 different fabrics in this room, and they all go together pretty good. All together this change cost $46.67 and was a lot of fun.

Thanks for taking a look at my new redo. I really appreciate your visits and hope you will come back again soon.
