Today I am joining two wonderful events. The first is Tablescape Thursday where we get to play with our dishes. Thanks to Susan @ Between Naps On The Porch for again hosting this fun event. Be sure to visit her and see her gorgeous tablescape that she always does and a list of all the other participants.
Tonight is one of those rare nights when I will be home alone and I thought I would really pamper myself. I have a new book that I want to really enjoy, so I set the table special just for me. I'm going to have Chicken Salad and a huge buttery Croissant from the Paradise Bakery and just indulge.
I've draped an Afghan across the table and added a few of the Dollar Tree pumpkins that I have around the table.

The floral arrangement is faux, but I love the colors and it looks like fall.

The candle has a yummy apple scent, so that will go good with the Chicken Salad. It also seems to make the table a little special.

My new book. I can hardly wait to just bury myself in it and see what wonderful inspiration I can find.

I love Brown Transferware and would love to have a collection. They seem really hard to find at a reasonable price. I only have two of these salad plates. There is no pattern name on the back, just a shield with crown and made in China. The white dinner plate is Gibson Claremont and I'm using one of my gold chargers.

I found these really cute leaf plates at Marshalls. They just say Leaf Plate-Made in China. I love the veins you can see in them and their pretty shape.

I'm using one of the pretty monogrammed "M" napkins that I found at the GW. I also found matching placemats. I think they are so pretty.

A view of the entire placesetting. This will be a great place to just sit, relax and enjoy dinner and my new book.

Today I am also joining Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality for her It's Fall Y'all party. This is where we show off our fall decorations. Mine are very small. I've mostly been working on the outside getting flowers and things ready for fall, however, I did do a small vignette on the Dining Room Table.

I'm using the same fall floral arrangement I used in the tablescape and have added a small cloche with a gourd and pumpkin, a book stand easle with the Bible on it and an assortment of ceramic pumpkins and gourds that I have.

I've opened the Bible to Psalm 100 - The Psalm of Thanksgiving. This is the season to be thankful for all of our blessing this year and to thank the Lord for the blessings to come.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I always appreciate your visits. I also wanted to remind you to stop by and see Sandi @ Bearly Sane to enter her fabulous GIVEAWAY!! She has some beautiful gifts and if you havn't met her you will want to even without a giveaway.

ReplyDeleteMarty, Your tablescape is simply lovely~ the afghan is so classy w/its long fringe, and your brown transferware plate is just so pretty. I would like to start a collection, too, but I either can't find any, or the few I spot at estate sales are waaaay too expensive... I also like your white leaf plate.
ReplyDelete:-) Sue
Wow Marty ... I never have a table laid like that when I'm eating alone ... I usually just have scrambled eggs or baked beans on toast in front of the tele!!
ReplyDeleteYour tablescape is wonderful as always ... you really have a great eye for beauty.
Thank you so much for the "plug" about my GIVEAWAY, I really appreciate your help.
Warmest hugs,
Sandi
Marty, I love both your vignettes, and your chicken salad and croissant dinner sounds lovely. It's fun just to treat yourself that way. I'll bet the new book will be great.
ReplyDeleteIt's neat that you turned the Bible to The Psalm of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is my favorite season because it's about being thankful for what we have, and sharing good times and food with family.
Very Pretty!! Love the colors you use together. Dinner sounds good - I had Cracker Barrel takeout - ate less than half of it and still to much. That is ok - have lunch for tomorrow. :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great evening.
Marty, as usual, you've created a beautiful table. Enjoy your quiet evening at home. Your fall vignette on your table looks so pretty. I especially love the opened Bible. After all, that's what it's all about anyway, isn't it? Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour tablescape and your fall decorating are very pretty. You make me want to settle down with a book and I am supposed to be gearing myself up to lead worship at Bible Study tonight. It is a chilly evening here, though, the kind the makes me want to grab a soft throw and just read. Okay, I will do the right thing. I do enjoy your blog, though. Hugs, Cindy S,
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty tablescape for you to enjoy with your meal and book -- and a lovely vignette as well -- You have a beautiful fall look about your home.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely setting for one! I really like the afghan effect and that white leaf side plate is terrific. Don't you just LOVE "me" time?! How wonderful that you are treating yourself special for it. That books looks like it will really add to the enjoyment of your meal! Your little fall vignette is made all the more special by your open Bible. I often open mine to the Christmas story at Christmas but never thought of doing so at Thanksgiving. Thanks for the inspiration! God's blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteDD
Sounds divine! Both the meal and the book and the time to yourself to indulge in it. You will be "mentally decorating" far into the night.

Marty-You shame me! I was home alone and just ate the left over icing from the cupcakes I was making--no tablescape required :)It's beautiful. I love the Bible open to Psalm 100. I do this at Christmas time but have never thought of Thanksgiving. What a perfect idea for a day of gratitude!
ReplyDeleteOh Marty,
ReplyDeleteYour table is just lovely,,,so very fall and elegant..I love the shawl and the way you have it draped on the table. Your plates and accessories complement your setting so well! Have a great day! Miss Bloomers/Sonia
Marty, it is so pretty. It makes me think we really should "treat ourselves" once in a while. I tend to pop leftovers in the microwave and curl up in front of the televison when I'm eating alone. Your tablescape says, "I'm special" and you are!
ReplyDeleteSue
Marty, your table is stunning. I love the soft cream and browns, they are so soothing. The flowers are beautiful and I love your little vignette too. Wonderful, soft and soothing. Perfect for relaxing and enjoying a fall day!

ReplyDeleteYour table looks very inviting & the croissant sounds delish!
LOVE those monogrammed napkins! I've decided to give monogrammed linen hand towels as your Pay-It-Forward giveaway on my blog.
I could use some help getting my button to work, though. :(
I am heading to the library tomorrow to check out that book! Thanks for the tip.
Marty your tablescape for one is just wonderful. It looks very regal and elegant. Also, your table vignette is inspiring. The colors for both are rich and warm feeling. Great job on both!
ReplyDeleteHi Marty,

This is the 3rd time here...I keep getting interupted and have to leave...I just love your centerpiece on the table with the Bible. Fantastic idea for Thanksgiving...the forgotten holiday! Good talking to you yesterday. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh Marty! This is stunning. I love how you set up your vignettes and tablescapes. You do have such a flair!
ReplyDeleteThe brown transferware is beautiful. I have a weak spot where it is concerned. I have received some as gifts and used gift cards for others. I also found some on ebay and at a yard sale believe it or not. And for good prices. Some of mine don't exactly match but I like that.
Your display with the bible is so beautiful...I love Christmas of course, and all it means, but I still think Thanksgiving is my favorite time of year. It is such a family holiday and one in which we have quiet time to relax and thank God for all He has given us!
Thank ou for sharing your home with us Marty
Love,
Sue
Hi Marty,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to drop by and say thank you for your sweet words yesterday. If you have a moment please come and see what I did.
Have a wonderful day.
Hugs,
♥Ana
Wow Marty, you have done a wonderful job..Love the flowers with the candle holder and I love the brown transferware, it all looks so warm and wonderful, thanks for sharing...Phyllis
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteI love how you combined TT with the fall party (I did too). Your table looks so pretty and fall~ festive. I love that centerpiece and who would know (besides we bloggers) that the little pumpkins around it are from Dollar Tree??
The brown transferware is pretty and is hard to find. I have one little plate and figured I would just pick up more when I came upon it and well...I haven't!!
The book looks good. I usually eat lunch alone and always read while I eat. An old habit from growing up. My father encouraged us kids to bring our books to the table...it stopped all the chatter and he could eat in peace!! lol!!
Have a wonderful weekend, Marty and Happy Fall Y'All!!
xoxo
Jane
Very pretty! I really like the TT, and the vignette! You always do a great job!
ReplyDeleteI also used acorns, and the DT brown pumpkins!
Katherine
Marty,
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love your tablescape for one. And that book looks so inviting. And the menu sounds yummy as well. And I love the vignette you set up on the table when you aren't eating. Looks like it was professionally staged. I love it!! Thanks for visiting my blog & leaving me a comment.
Kim
Love it!!! I wish I could make my table look like that.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know I changed my bog name to Life As Lori

ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! I love the brown transferwear (spelling???) ! The entire table setting is so nice and ties in nicely with the book you are reading. I love evenings alone and I rarely get them....they are special treats ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Marty!
ReplyDeleteYou did a fabulous job on your fall decorations. I love the Bible, of course. And the giant acorns are something I have to have!!
You have a beautiful home!
Kim
Hi Marty, Wow! your tablescape is just gorgeous and all of that just for you! Way to make yourself feel special. Just love the richness of the colors, so elegant. Looks like a good book too! Blessings, Linda

ReplyDeleteMichelle
Oh, Marty, your table is just beautiful, I love it all. What a gorgeous Fall display & I really love that you added the Bible in there. Yes, it's a great season for thankfulness. You're always so sweet to come by & visit & I think you for that too! Happy Fall.
ReplyDeleteLove everything! I, too, am in love with brown transferware. The antique brown is really getting expensive, and the new stuff is elusive. Keep looking. I also have that book and enjoyed it. Hope you enjoyed your dinner alone - it's nice to be alone once in awhile! Sally
ReplyDeleteMarty this is all so gorgeous! You are truly an amazing and talented designer. I LOVE the way you draped the fringe runner. ~Spectacular!
ReplyDeleteMany Blessings and Happy Fall!
~Melissa :)
Hi Marty, thank you for stopping at the Bhive yesterday! Yes, I totally agree with you Debbie is wonderful! I was so happy to feature her in my blog.

Oh Marty your tablescape and fall decor is stunning. I love that you have a copy of Betty Lou's book in your tablescape. The brown transferware plates are gorgeous and a beautiful focal point in you setting.
ReplyDeleteHappy tablescaping.
Hugs,
Sue
I love your tablescape for one! That is a great idea. A wonderful to make yourself feel special. I also love the idea of using the Bible in a Fall viginette. I am going to use that idea somehow. Hmmm...first I have to get a book easel. I don't have one of those. Thanks for stopping by my Get R Done post. I realized I still have a bag of books to get rid of. Well, that will be another day I guess. LOL!
ReplyDeleteMarty, my sweet friend...you certainly do know how to do it up in style! your table is just so pretty and warm...perfect. I do hope you had a good evening in alone!
ReplyDeleteforgot to add....in response to your comment on my flowers that I shared...that is ALL that is left of my gardens...the rest are all blackened and mushy from the frosts...and tonight we are waiting for snow/rain mix! ugh...that will make yanking them all out a messy project for tomorrow...if it's warm enough!
ReplyDeleteMarty:
ReplyDeleteThese fall colors are just beautiful. I hope your evening is enjoyable.
Please forgive me for not responding sooner. I'm packing and leaving for San Diego in the morning, so I'll miss all of you at the blogger lunch! I know you will have a wonderful time.
Marty, Not sure you will ever get way down here on comments, but I just had to say how lovely and inviting your table for one and the fall table are.
ReplyDeleteI never do that for myself and I think now I will try it sometimes.
Have a great Saturday.
Barbara
I love your tablescape. Very elegant and beautiful subdued colours. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table setting!
ReplyDeleteLoved the tablescape Marty! Isn't it nice to pamper oneself? I love the little pumpkins. Soooooo pretty who would have thought Dollar Tree? It is fun to set a pretty table & enjoy it (instead of in front of the TV which has been our scene of late). I need to do that. Going to get the fall stuff out this weekend so maybe..... Your fall decor is lovely & thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked "Dapper Dan" from my post today.
Loved your fall tablescape. I really loved the brown transferware! I would love to have a collection of it too. The only pieces I ever find are kinda pricey. Ah that's the thrill of the hunt huh? Have a great weekend. Hope you enjoyed the book. Traci
ReplyDeleteMarty, I was out of town much of the week so am just now getting around to visiting TT posts. Your table is sheer delight. I always enjoy what you do. The fall table is also wonderful. You have the perfect touches that fall has arrived. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteEverything looks just beautiful. I love your idea of the throw on your table. It looks so elegant and pretty.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has her grandmother's complete set, including tea pot and tea cups, of English brown transferware. It is so lovely and she has it displayed on long shelves in her breakfast room. I must get a photo of it soon.
