Met. & Thrifty Monday - Fall Is Coming



Yea!!! It's time for another Metamorphosis and Thrifty Monday hosted by the gracious Susan @ Between Naps On The Porch and Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality. They both always have so many wonderful and creative things to show us and a whole list of everyone that is sharing in this fun event, so be sure to check them out.

I am shamelessly promoting the coming "Fall Cloche Party" today. It is coming up real soon on the 11th of Sept. Be sure to get out all your cloches and apothecary jars and show us your fall decorations and your creativity.

I always want to be part of the action and in the middle of everything. You know how some people are. lol Anyway, I moved my computer to the breakfast room. There is a buffet under the window and it has drop down leaves on the ends which makes it really big when I raise them up and just perfect for me to put the computer there so I can be part of the familyroom/breakfastroom/kitchen combination. I love it. I can watch TV, cook and still blog all at the same time.


For a while I've had an old ironstone pitcher that belonged to my grandmother filled with flowers, an antique ringer phone (can you see the ringer on the side), antique shoe lasts, an ink well and a brass apple as the decorations.


I thought this would be a great spot to bring in a little fall decorating. I am really thinking cool. It is still in the triple digits here. 113 degrees today. I really am ready for fall and some cool weather, and some rain.


I found all of these items at the Dollar Tree. Just some fun pumpkins, gourds, corn, feathers and fall leaves. It makes me think cool anyway even if it isn't. lol




Please be sure to grab the button pictured her and post it on your blog to spread the word and get out your cloches and fill them up with all kinds of wonderful fall things. I can't wait to see them all. Don't forget Sept 11th. That's really soon.     I am trying to savor every last ray of sunshine being a summer person but once I get out the Autumn leaves I will be all over the fall look and turn everything upside down to adjust to the new season.I guess I really am a four seasons person .

  20. I don't have a cloche, but I do have a hurricane lamp I could turn upside down and do something with. Hmmm, maybe I will do that and join your little Cloche party.

    In the meantime, please stop by and say hello. Great minds think alike as I too started with my autumn decorating with some thrifty finds. Kinda crazy as it's 105 out there...lol.

  23. It's really hot here too...and humid, but darn, I still hate to see summer go. I just love the laid back feel of summertime and the longer days.

    The old phone is amazing! I don't think I have ever seen one like that. It's a real treasure.

    I am so loving the fall cloche and getting everything at the dollar store is wonderful! I can't believe how hot it still is there. I am hoping for warm but not that warm when we visit in October. This weekend we only had highs in the mid-sixties. Talk about feeling like fall, maybe we could trade some I'll take some of your warm and you take some of my cool!   45. Hi Marty....well your optimistic about fall being right around the corner....I can't imagine heat in the triple digits....Never been to the east coast? You need to make a trip in October to the northeast....no place prettier in the fall....Williamsburg is great and would be terrific in cooler weather, we hit 90 degree temps the day we were there and it was just too hot....that's why you didn't see many people in the pictures....

  49. Oh dear. When I go to the dollar tree I just stand and look and think "what on earth can I do with that!" And look at what YOU created! Just beautiful and very FALL! I love it!

  53. The vignette is so timeless. The pieces are so different, shiny china, wood with such a beautiful patina on it, the metal inkwells. Just a great combination.

I've tried to consider moving it some place less in the middle of things, and I'm afraid I'd be too lonvely, so it stays where it is. But I don't have a pretty fall cloche to inspire me. laurie

    Just wanted to drop by to say hello and see what you've been up to! Ohhh Girl, I just love your Autumn cloche and pretty vignette!!! It's gorgeous!!! I'm soooo looking forward to getting my Autumn decor out and going but I have been wanting to do an all white tablescape for a few weeks and I'm just now getting to it...so I'll get started with Fall next week! I'm so ready too...I love Autumn...it's my favorite season! I'm so sorry that you're having such hot and dry weather! Autumn is already making its way into Colorado...it's actually to chilly to open the door and windows early in the morning...have to wait for it to warm up a bit to do that!
