Thank you Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch for inviting me to link my Sunday Favorites post with Metamorphosis Monday. Be sure to visit her and find a list of all the fabulous posts.

Thanks to Chari @ Happy To Design for hosting this special Sunday event. This is our chance to see an older post that we may have missed or one that we would like to see again. Be sure to visit her blog to see everyone that is participating. There have been some incredible posts and you really don't want to miss any of them.
Today I am showing the repost of my Mini Kitchen Redo. This was one of the first posts I did. If you have seen this, please forgive, if not I think this shows that even a very mini kitchen redo can make a huge difference.
When we moved in we had the basic builder bland kitchen. White walls, white appliances, white sink, beige formica counters and blonde maple cabinets. The first thing I did was paint the walls a deep chocolate brown. At least you could see the cabinets now.

Next I polished the cabinets with a dark paste wax. Added hardware, undercounter lights, stainless sink and new faucet. The granite remnant was a fabulous gift. We added some extra width to the counter and put corbels underneath. Granite remnant - Huge Upgrade. I love how the granite pulled the whole kitchen together and gives it a polished look.
A few different accessories and this is how it looks today. I just love it.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed my kitchen. I look forward to your visits and hope you'll come back soon.

Hello Girlfriend...
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you decided to join in with the fun of "Sunday Favorites"!!!
My friend, I certainly can understand why you chose to show this post once again...it's fabulous!!! I love your kitchen...I think doing the wall color in that warm chocolate color is genius...it really does make your pretty cabinets "pop"! I bet when the walls were white, the cabinets just faded into the walls! This is soooo pretty! I can tell that using a dark wax darkened up the cabinets a bit and I love your added hardware! It always amazes me that just adding hardware to a cabinet can really dress them up and give a new look! I love the stainless sink too! One of my favorites about your kitche re-do is the addition of that gorgeous granite...it really does tie the entire kitchen together...that was a GRAND decision!!! Love all of your accessories...I just love your kitchen, my friend!!! I'm so glad that you decided to share this post again...everyone needs to see it!!!
Love ya,
Chari
The kitchen looks so good with the walls painted brown but the granite on the island is amazing!
ReplyDeleteGood job. That kitchen is timeless.
ReplyDeleteGood Day Marty...this is just beaitiful my friend...I love the deep Chocolate brown walls and that Granite just really made the whole Kitchen pop...You know what girl I also bought a renmant piece of granite to put on top on my Bean counter in my Kitchen..I wanted a new piece and the gut quotes me $2000.00 for it...blew me away..this peice I got I paid $100.00 for fits length wise but short one ince width wise's but I can live with that more that spending @ grand..and it serves my purpose real find...no one can sit wet drink now on top of my bean counter...Thank for the DO-OVER my friend...and also for coming by and seeing me...May you have a wonderful weekend...Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
ReplyDeleteEvening, Marty! OH, I do love your kitchen - just gorgeous. The granite is so nice and I love how you darken your cabinets with a paste wax. Do you have to continue putting it on? I need to do something like this to a couple of chair that are maple and want them to have a mahogany stain. Would this work?

ReplyDeleteWow,your kitchen is just beautiful! I love the chocolate brown walls. I wanted to have taupe walls in this apartment and to paint my cupboards white, but my landlord gave a big NO on that, so I love with very dark cupboards and ugly plaid wallpaper. Sigh. Oh well.

See you in the neighborhood, Hugs kathysue

ReplyDeleteHi Marty,
ReplyDeleteLove your kitchen....and always enjoy seeing it again! That color just makes your cabinets pop! It's a great transformation, you did such a wonderful job on it! How did your little party go this weekend? Mine went well, but I forgot to take photos I was so involved with the meal! LOL! I do have photos for Tablescape Thurs. though. Have you been to my new blog on decorating? I just started it. You have to look in the side bar on my other blog under my bio and click on LuLo Designs or type in lulodesigns.blogspot because I didn't put the right name on Mr. Linky at Barb's? I joined Barb's Porch Party today but not many people have found it yet. Good to hear from you!

Hi Marty...i'm trying to catch up. This bloggin' takes some time. Well, your kitchen, sweet lady, is just fabulous. You have the maple cabinets I have dreamed of. The granite indeed does pull it all together. My favorite cabinet/countertop combo is maple and granite. Thanks for sharing this...it's never tiring!
ReplyDeleteMarty,
ReplyDeleteI LOVE what you have done with your kitchen! I can see why you love it! The best thing is the extra sink on the island. I would definitly want that. I also think the chocolate walls look fab!
I'm glad I got to see this post because I missed it the first time!!
xoxo

Oh Marty -- you always leave the sweetest comments - thanks for your visit to my tablescape -- and yes, the older I get the more things I find in antique and "Vintage" shops that were a part of my childhood -- now what does that say - certainly not that I'm getting "older" or anything!!! grins!
ReplyDeleteMarty thank you for the birthday wish. You are my kind of gal. 40 huh! well that even sounds better than what I thought. Have a great evening.
