Today I'm doing a double post. Thanks to Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch for hosting this Tablescape Thursday. Be sure to visit her and see her lovely tablescape as well as everyone that's signed up to join her. Such a feast for the eyes.
I'm also participating in Thrifty Thursday hosted by Leigh @ Tales From Bloggeritaville. Also go by and visit her to see her wonderful thrifty finds and a list of all the fellow thrifty gals posts. They always show us such great bargains.

My Tablescape today is Sunday Dinner. I'm using a mix of old, new and thrifty finds. Our menu will be Prime Rib, Yorkshire Pudding, AuJus and Lemon Asparagus Spears. I will be using Sterling Silver as the serving dishes. Some were my mothers, some my mother-in-laws and some are mine. I have quite a few Sterling Silver serving pieces and I am so glad they're coming back into fashion, because I love to use them. They have the most wonderful patina and make the simpliest meal seem elegant. Just click on any picture to enlarge.

The color scheme is white, cream, black and silver.

The centerpiece is a mix of flowers arranged in a Paul Revere Silver bowl with glass candlesticks and cream candles. This picture also shows some of the silver pieces.

This shows a view of the place setting, etched crystal and more silver serving pieces.

I'm using the cream floral plates that I found at Home Goods as chargers. They are really oversized. I love the intricate detail to the design. They were in the clearance aisle marked down to $4.99 each. I went to 2 different stores to find 6.

The black and cream plate I know many of you also have. I just purchased these at Marshall's on their clearance aisle for $1.00 each. If you need more be sure to check it out now while they still have a few.

I'm mixing several different patterns of etched crystal stemware. I love all of them and I love to mix them together.

The buffet table is set for dessert. We will have assorted Peti Fours and Strawberry Pie with Coffee for dessert.

I've elevated the coffee service by placing it on top of a silver pedestal cakestand. The three tiered server will hold the Peti Fours, and the strawberry pie will be placed in the silver pie cradle.
Thanks for joining us for Sunday Dinner. We so enjoyed your company and look forward to you coming back soon.

Hi Marty, beautiful table. I adore those black and white plates. Your menu makes my mouthwater. I have some of those charger plates from Home Goods, but I am trying to get more, but my local store is out. Plus, I want the cups which they are completely out of and other pieces...they were very picked over here. The bummer is, none of the pieces had a name on them to look online for more. Oh well, I may try the Winston-Salem store. Thanks for sharing this wonderful table!
ReplyDeleteDearest Marty - I have already spotted where I would like to sit. LOL Your menu sound lovely and delicous. Your guests are in for a very special treat. Happy Friday Marty! ;) I'm making the rounds today, only posting twice weekly doesn't give me much time to visit all the blogs I love. :( But, I've had to reorganize and balance my days better with this lovely weather requiring me to work in my flowers and pot them up, etc... I think we're all blogging less because of the spring weather...so nice! Well your tablescape and Sunday dinner were perfect! Those little black and white plates are precious., very FRENCH looking and you know how I love French things! ;) You be blessed and have a lovely spring day in your neck of the woods! ;) ~CC Catherine
ReplyDeleteMarty, I really love this. It's so elegant! You have some lovely silver pieces, love the way you elevated the coffee service on the cake pedestal. And I cannot believe those B & W plates were $1.00 - what a steal! Beautifully done, hugs, Kat

ReplyDeleteHI Marty!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you linked this up! Such great deals! You know I love those plates. I also love the cream floral plates that you found at Home Goods. What a beautiful table and wonderful menu! I only hate I missed supper!
Thanks, friend!
It 's so lovely that you are using the silver pieces. I think silver is just gorgeous, but mine is rarely kept polished.
ReplyDeleteYour tablescape is fab and goodness you scored with the plates and chargers.
What a yummy menu! I'm craving lemon asparagus for breakfast now!
ReplyDeletevery pretty
ReplyDeleteYour table looks lovely and you gotta love those thrift store finds!
ReplyDeleteYour silver is beautiful! I got to thinking and realized that I have NO silver (except flatware). I honestly don't remember seeing many silver serving pieces in the housewares section of the major dept. stores when we registered to get married. We do have tons of crystal. Hmmmm, I can't believe I don't have any silver!
Something to start thrifting for! Blessings to you from Kansas,
Valerie
Wow your table looks amazing! I cannot believe you found those great plates for $1 each, you go girl! Looks fit for a queen....
ReplyDelete~Misti
