If you have been a frequent visitor to RMS or Micasa, you have already seen this room, however for those that havn't I love the transformation of my mini-remodeled kitchen. When we first bought the house, the kitchen was very typical builder bland. It had light maple cabinets, white walls, counters, sink and appliances. It's only redeeming factors were good storage, a nice layout and great travertine tile floors. First step was to paint the walls a yummy chocolate brown. Now you could at least see the cabinets.

The next step was to polish the cabinets with dark paste wax. This stuff is wonderful, it darkened the cabinets about 2 shades. Then the granite countertop (this was a fabulous gift) new stainless sink, new faucet and corbels. I painted the back of the island a soft camel color and highlighted the corbels for interest. This made a huge difference. Next we added the cabinet hardware and undercounter lights. Mini remodel done.
I love the new look, and the granite is just wonderful. A huge transformation for a small price. I still need to replace those huge track lights in the ceiling, but all in all a much nicer place to cook. It's always amazing to see what a little paint, and a piece of granite can do.
We have another new blogger that is such a sweet lady and has a wonderful site that you will want to see. She lives on a huge farm with the most gorgeous horses and does such beautiful paintings. Be sure to go by and welcome her. You can reach her at http:/allinaday'swork.blogspot.com
Also be sure to go by http://justthebeginning.blogspot.com and say hello to her. She is from Canada and loves to decorate and really has a great knack with doing tabletop vignettes.
Both these ladies are new to the blog world, so give them a friendly hello.
Thanks for the visit, I love it when you come to call. Marty Pin It
